What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness? ~Jean Jacques Rousseau

We are all guilty in one way or another of seeking perfection. Improving our abilities and excelling beyond what we think we are capable of achieving is a high mountain to climb. However, the pursuit of perfection provides a sense of greatness and a sense of achievement that lifts the soul. The pursuit achieves an even higher meaning and experience when it is shared with others. Many a times my work has been commented on and appreciated by family, friends and strangers. Their opinions, views, critiques and encouragement have all helped me to improve my craft. But knowing that challenges test our ability to do better, I recently decided to challenge myself to teach others about photography and improving their own skills.

Not only would teaching test my own knowledge and skills, it would give me a platform to give and encourage - give and encourage those seeking to express themselves through their own lenses. I therefore decided to try my hand at leading one-on-one photo safaris. My first client/grasshopper? My sis-in-law Tashelle who has been constantly seeking me out for photography advice. Our classroom was downtown Milwaukee, so I took her on a walk to try our hands at composition, use of natural and unnatural light and creativity. Below are a few of my shots from the walk that we had.

Based on the fun we had and her happiness after the safari, I hope to do more safaris in the Chicagoland area.

Stay tuned.
